Versatile Blogger Award.

So my approach to this tag was a little lackadaisical because I did the Very Inspiring Blogger Award (which you can read here) and it too was 7 facts, so I wanted to wait a while before completing this one. However, in the lapsing time, I've been nominated twice again.

So, to the three people who nominated me, thank you!!! I was nominated by

30 Beauty Questions Tag.

Okay so I've been a little lax on the posting this week, so I decided to do these questions that I found :)

1. Do you remember your first makeup item?
Does stealing my mum’s concealer stick, putting it allover my face, and getting caught with it in school by a teacher at the age of 13 count?
2. Describe your perfect mascara. Have you found one that fits your specifications?
At the moment I’m using Benefit’s Roller Lash, because it’s new and I wanted to try it. Honestly I love it, it’s the best I’ve ever used. Most mascaras curl or lengthen, this does both, and very well.

3. What kind of coverage do you prefer from foundation?
Light. I use mostly sheer to light coverage products. My skin is usually in relatively good condition so I don’t need anything heavy, plus, I’m so pale that finding my colour is nearly impossible, so it’s important that what I use isn’t opaque otherwise my face won’t match my neck!

4. Favorite high end brand?
MAC. I’ll always love MAC. Even as I discover new brands and products that I love, I know I can always trust MAC for something good quality.

5. What cosmetic brands have you always wanted to try but still haven't?
Illamasqua, Chanel, and Dior.

6. Favorite drugstore brand?
Ooh, I don’t really use drug-store brands too much anymore. I’ll say Maybelline purely because of the quality of their mascaras.

7. Do you wear fake eyelashes?
Nope, not usually. It’s been a long time.

8. Is there any kind of makeup you can't leave the house without?
No, I go out all the time without makeup on, I don’t really mind :)

9. What is your most cherished beauty product?

Either my Naked 3 palette, or MAC cremeblend blush in Something Special, purely because it's my all-time favourite.

10. How often do you shop for makeup? Do you like to pick up an item here and there or get lots of goodies at once?
I usually wait until some kind of wind-fall and buy a few things at once :)

11. Do you have a "beauty budget" or you spend freely?
I just spend when I have the extra money.

12. Do you utilize coupons, rewards cards and sales when you shop for cosmetics?
I have cards for Selfridges, Debenhams and Boots etc.

13. What type of product do you buy the most of?
Probably lip products. Lipsticks, Glosses, Blams, I love them all :)

14. Is there a brand that you absolutely can't stand?
Not really. There are certain products that don’t work for me but I’d never rite off a brand because of that.

15. Do you avoid certain ingredients in cosmetics like parabens or sulfates?
Not always no, though it’s good when they’re not in a product that I love.

16. Do you have a favorite place to shop for makeup?
Selfridges. They have just, everything I want.

17. Do you like trying new skincare products or do you keep a certain routine?
I have a pretty good routine that I stick to. I feel like, because a lot of products are too harsh for my skin, that if I try something new and it messes up my skin I’ll have to spend weeks getting it back to where it was, when I could have just stuck to what I know.

18. Favorite bath and body brand?
Sanctuary. AAH Sanctuary. I love the scent, and the products work well with my skin, and they’re just, mmm.

19. If you could only buy from one brand, which brand would you choose?

20. What brand do you think has the best packaging?
Charlotte Tillbury have some beautiful packaging, I also really like the simplicity of NARS products, but the rubbery ones get dirty sometimes.

21. Which celebrity always has great makeup?
Kim K and Kyle Jenner always looks pretty flawless. I wouldn’t mind some of that :)

22Do you belong to any online makeup communities?

23. 5 Favorite Beauty Gurus
Beauty Crush
Lisa Eldridge (Always knows exactly what she’s talking about!)

24. Do you like multifunctional products like lip and cheek stains?
I used to use them all the time but I don’t so much anymore. I don’t mind them though :)

25. Are you clumsy in putting on makeup?
No I’m usually quite neat but I ALWAYS get mascara on my eyelids. Bane of my life.

26. Do you use makeup base/primer for the eyes?
Yes most of the time, otherwise shadow just doesn’t stick.

27. How many hair products do you use on a typical day?
Leave-in conditioner
Moisturising oil
Frizz taming spray

28. What do you apply first, concealer or foundation?
It depends which products I’m using but usually foundation first because rubbing in my foundation usually moves my concealer and that’s no good.

29. Do you ever consider taking makeup classes?
Erm, if I was rich and had a bazillion hours of free time. Other than that, self-taught makeup is okay for me, I’d rather focus on my education and career.

30. What do you love about makeup?
I love that someone can completely change the way they look and feel with a face of makeup. It can add so much confidence and add to any outfit for any event. It can be subtle or it can be extreme and as long as you know how to apply it properly you can end up looking bloody amazing :)

Makeup Wish List.

I already did a post a few weeks ago entitled 2015 Wish List. It had a lot of different categories including Books, DVDs, and Beauty, but I wanted to do a full list of makeup items that I'm currently wanting, just because it's fun for me, and maybe you guys have tried these items and can recommend them and give me your opinion. I haven't repeated anything on either list so if you want to check out my other post you can here. Now, on with this list :)

Being incomprehensibly pale, it's hard to find concealers that are even paler, to highlight and cover imperfections on my skin. This however, is very light and also very creamy and I really want to try it.

♡ Illamasqua Skin Base (I need colour matching)

Again because of my pale skin, I've struggled finding colours that match my tone. I use foundations that are slightly too dark and blend blend blend because it's so hard to get good foundations in pale shades. I've heard rave reviews about this foundation and the colours go so pale, it excited me thinking about getting something I actually match. I need to go to the counter in Selfridges and get it matched to my skin :)

♡ Mac Cremeblend Blush in So Sweet So Easy & Mac Mineralise Blush in Just A Wisp

A cremeblend because I love them, and a mineralise because they highlight. Both cute pink shades :)

♡ Mac Eyeshadow in Charcoal Brown

I originally went to buy this over a year ago and they didn't have it unfortunately, because it's such a popular shade. It's great for contouring eyes, and for eyebrows! I currently use Brun by mac, but it's slightly too dark, and I need something more subtle I think.

♡ Mac Lipstick in Syrup & Mac Lipstick in Pink Pearl Pop

Syrup because it's not too different from my natural lip colour, and whilst I love a statement lip, I'm loving subtle colours at the moment too. And Pink pearl drop because I don't have a pinky shade at the moment that I love.

This is a Lip Balm with a hint of pink. As soon as I saw this it was added to my Wish List.

This speaks for itself. Incredible brushes, and rose gold, all in one? Yes please.

This too. I'd be doubling up on a couple of eye brushes, but you can never have too many eye brushes :)

Have you guys tried any of these products? If so let me know in the comments if you loved/hated them and let me know why :)

Thanks for reading.

10 TV Shows I Want to See in 2015.

I'm a massive fan of TV shows, and I spend a good chunk of my life watching shows that I love. I'll try almost anything and if I don't like it I stop watching and if I love it I can't stop! There are a lot of shows I have yet to watch and I thought I'd list them, both to receive your comments if you've seen any and also so I can refer to it :)

1. Angel the series.

As a huge lover of all things Buffy, it'd be just a complete fail if I didn't watch this at some point. I only finished Buffy recently, but it'd be great to re-watch them and watch Angel along side in the right order.

2. Pretty Little Liars.

Everyone raves about this show. I've read up and know what it's about and I think it sounds like something I'd love so, a Netflix marathon is in order. :)

3. Veronica Mars.

I watched a few of these in a very fragmented order when it was on tv originally, and I used to love it (and Monk!). After the release of the new film I purchased a box-set with every episode of the series and the film, so I can't wait to get started.

4. Heroes.

A show I've actually never seen. It totally sounds like my thing, so I bought the box set from Amazon on 'Black Friday', and I can't wait to watch. :)

5. Gossip Girl.

Another show I have never seen, although I have wanted to watch it for years! It's next on my list on Netflix.

6. Top of the Lake.

This was recommended, it's a BBC Drama, and I'd never even heard of it! I was very interested and so I bought the box set of this too. :)

7. Breaking Bad.

I started watching this on Sunday. My first impressions were that it's a little bit strange, I don't know how this will go.

8. Desperate Housewives.

I watched the last series of this when it was on TV, but I've never seen the rest. The plan is to watch them all right from the beginning. :)

9. Once Upon a Time.

I saw the first two series of this, but unfortunately in the UK, Channel 5 (where it was aired) dropped the show, and now we can't see it! I need to get hold of series three etc so I can carry on my viewing!

10. Teen Wolf.

This is another show that was dropped by the channel in the UK. It was shown on MTV and we got the first two seasons and then no more! I must find a way of viewing the rest soon!

NEW Benefit Roller Lash Review.

In this month's ELLE magazine, there is a free miniature of Benefit's Roller Lash, which is the new mascara that is being launched on the 12th of February. Eager to try out something that wasn't even on shelves yet, and also as a lover of all things Benefit, I got my hands on two of these!

The tiny packaging is really cute and I was so excited to give this a try, given that the Benefit 'They're Real' is my current favourite.

The brush is slightly curved and has plastic bristles. I've never been a fan of plastic brushes, I think because of bad experience, but Benefit have shown me how amazing they can be. The idea is that you don't have to even curl your lashes, as if they've had rollers in!

It's a cute little 3.0g sample. It is currently for sale on the US website for $10 here so it's worth more than the price I paid for the ELLE magazine.

The effect that the mascara had on my lashes was unbelievable. With just one coat it lifted and lengthened my lashes so much and made my eyes appear so much more open and bright. I was completely taken aback by the look of my lashes after using just one and especially two coats of this.

One coat.

Two coats.

Basically overall I'd say that this mascara is brilliant, I will be buying a full sized one as soon as my miniatures run out and if I could only use one mascara for the rest of my life, it would be this one. I'm well and truly converted :)

I'd give this mascara 10/10.

The University Debate; to go or not to go?

A serious topic, and a serious post, but it's necessary.

Lots of people seem to be discussing University, and whether or not they should go. I thought I'd give my opinion.

For me University was just something that was always going to happen. I went to private school and it was just a given that you'd go on to college/sixth form, and from there, University. But I know that for some people it's not that simple.

A lot of people think Uni might be a waste of time, due to their career goals, for example if they don't need a degree, then why bother? And that's fair, however I always think it's useful to have a backup plan. In my case, I want to write. Books specifically, and whilst I don't necessarily need a degree to do that, I also know that writing, for most people, isn't lucrative enough that they don't have to work. So I am currently in my third year studying for a degree in English, from where I will go on to study a PGCE or equivalent and become a qualified teacher, as my safety net.

The other problem people have is the whole social side to Uni. I find it strange that, rather than a learning experience, a lot of people see University as a time to be meeting new people and partying and going out every night drinking. And then because of this there are people who are shy, and introverted, who might think that Uni isn't for them. I'm an introvert, and I've been at Uni for 2 and a half years and I haven't once been out partying. It's a personal choice, but it hasn't taken away from my experience. I still have friends, and to be quite honest a fair number of the people I have classes with don't seem to be out clubbing every weekend either.

I also chose a Uni that was close to home, and I still live at home with my mum. The main reasons for this were

1. To avoid living with people I might not get on with.
2. I still get to care for my dog and he isn't at home alone all day.
3. It gives me the opportunity to get the much-needed alone time I require to re-charge.

I just wanted to offer my standpoint on this topic because I feel like I haven't heard anyone provide an opinion like mine, and I worry that people might not go to Uni, who want to for academic reasons, because they feel like it's not for them socially.

After the whole thing, even if I hadn't particularly enjoyed it, I'd have a degree, and a more positive future. If you think that Uni might not be for you, but you want qualifications, please, I urge you, to make sure that you fully research the pros and cons because it could end up the best thing you ever did. And if you do go and it's not for you, it doesn't matter too much, you probably won't notice the debt repayments and at least you'll know for sure.

What are your feelings about Undergrad and Postgrad education? Let me know in the comments :)
